Shelter
70.8 million people are currently fleeing from conflicts and natural disasters around the world. Of these, 30 million are children. SHELTER takes you on a virtual journey to three continents where families have taken refuge in more or less permanent refugee shelters. The exhibition contains a real shelter and the stories of three places that documentary director Jesper Wachtmeister has visited together with photographer Kenneth Svedlund Ishii during 2018 and 2019 – Bidibidi in Uganda, Lombok in Indonesia and Za’atari in Jordan. With Virtual Reality and 360-video recordings, you find yourself sitting together with school children in a classroom or visiting a family in their home made from earth and hay, tent canvas or prefabricated shelter modules just as dinner is being prepared.
The exhibition is a collaboration between ASF Sweden, Common Ground Pictures and Solaris Filmproduktion.
